WSET Level 2 – Update

Hi there! It’s been a bit since I’ve written an update here, but I’ve been busy studying and vacationing on the coast of Maine this month! I’ve officially finished all of my webinars for WSET level 2, and am now studying for the exam, which I am scheduled to take on August 24th.

To jump back a bit, since I’ve last written an update on here, I received my level 1 exam score back and received a 100 on the exam!! I was shocked. I knew that I did well on the exam, but I did not expect to get every single question right! It was exactly the push I needed to study extra hard for level 2.

Level 2 is more difficult than I thought it would be, but I am absolutely loving it. To me, I thought there would be less of a jump from the super high-level information that consisted of level 1, but level 2 jumps right in! It’s all information that I want to know and be educated in, so trying to memorize all of the prominent wine regions, villages, and climates in the world where Pinot Noir thrives is difficult, yet rewarding. It also helps that each course comes with a set of wines for tastings 🙂

What I do appreciate about level 2 compared to level 1 is that we received a hard copy of the textbook and workbook for this course. This has been super helpful for me to take notes in both the textbook and workbook. I also have to give a shoutout to @brainscape – it’s an online flashcard website that has flashcards made for everything I need to know for my exam. I used Brainscape for level 1, and clearly it worked well, so I’ve been using that to study a bunch for level 2.

The good news that I learned recently is that I do not have to have received my score from level 2 to move on to level 3, which I was worried would be the case. Given that it takes a bit of time (2-3 months) to receive the exam score, I didn’t want to lose all the knowledge I had gained from levels 1 and 2, and then start up level 3 in a few months from now. Thankfully, I am now planning to take level 3 starting next month! From what I’ve heard, level 3 is quite difficult, and takes about 3-4 months to complete, as opposed to the 1-month courses that I’ve taken for levels 1 and 2.

Wish me luck on my upcoming exam next week, and as always, thanks for stopping by! Stay updated on my wine journey on my instagram @fromvinetovin
